New company formed to address problems associated with noisy boating environments.
    Reading, Pennsylvania - January 1, 2005

Telecommunications industry veterans recently announced the founding of Piratecom, a
revolutionary boating communications company located in the suburbs of Reading, Pennsylvania.

During their 18 years of extensive boating experience the founders observed communications
difficulties with all boating environments in which they were involved.

While on plane cruising with friends and family towards his favorite dock-side restaurant, the wind,
wave and engine noises all combined to make communications among passengers difficult; requiring
yelling and shouting.  In this high noise environment, both casual and critical safety communications
were subject to many interpretation errors.  Family, friends and crew were exposed to a hearing
impaired environment which may contribute to hearing loss and hearing damage.

While water skiing during beautiful summer days with friends, he found it was nearly impossible to
keep an eye on the water and horizon when his spotter tried to tell him something.  The wind, wave
and engine noises all combined to make communications difficult requiring yelling and shouting. As a
result, he would turn his head away from the water/horizon just to try to decipher basic information
from the spotter! Obviously at this critical time, passengers, boat and other boaters on the water are
all in a dangerous situation because eyes and attention were turned away from the water while on
plane/at high speeds. Not to mention the accuracy of the communication from his spotter was in
question due to the wind, waves and engine noises.

While running offshore to the canyons, he found himself falling victim to hours of not receiving clear
and crisp safety, weather, or Coast Guard communications due the wind, wave and engine noises.  In
fact, listening to vital marine, SSB or VHF transmissions in this environment was downright
impossible.  He and his crew were required to yell and shout just for basic communication and were
all exposed to a hearing impaired environment which may actually contribute to hearing loss and
    hearing damage.

There had to be a better, safer way!

Piratecom was formed with a simple goal in mind - to eliminate the noisy environment experienced on
boats while improving communications in order to maximize enjoyment and safety while cruising.

The company's mission is to lead the market by offering a full line of headsets, intercoms and
electronic interfaces that are the most innovative and durable on the market.  Piratecom's goals are
to provide superior customer service, quality hearing protection and communication with products
that are easy to use and affordable.
